Across Australia this summer, our dedicated firefighters have been stretched to the limit with a terrible bushfire season. They have worked tirelessly to keep our homes, friends, family, wilderness and wildlife safe, often at a huge cost to themselves and their family. Â We now have an opportunity to help those who have been helping us.
The Firefighter family day on the water  initiative, created by Above and Beyond Boating and supported by the Boating Industry Association of which Emire Marina's Director Darren Vaux is the President, provides a way for the boating community to give back to the volunteer men and women who have given up their summer and precious time with family to battle blazes across our country often in very traumatic circumstances.Â
Empire Marina Bobbin Head in conjunction with the Bobbin Head Cruising Club is supporting this day and we encourage our boat owners to get involved and support this worthy cause.Â
The event is strictly limited to 30 boats and 30 families per marina and the format is that each boat takes out one volunteer firefighter and their family. Â The day will start with a meet and greet BBQ at the marina at 10am and around 10.30 each family with go to their host's boat and head out for a cruise. Â It is anticipated that each host boat will provide lunch and refreshments for the firefighter family. Â The Bobbin Head Cruising Club is looking to organise a raft up or raft ups on the day and all marina boats that support the day are welcome to join in. Â
The first step is to register your boat for participating in the day which you can only do by completing the form on the following link.Â
